Donal Parsons is a eight year old boy who lives in Strandhill, Country Sligo, Ireland with his big brother James, his mum Jane, his dad Andy and Nelly the Springer Spaniel. Donal likes playing, dancing, talking, cooking and making things. Most of all he loves building Lego and he loves his dog.
In October 2013 Donal was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a very rare Children’s cancer. Donal received 16 months of intensive treatment at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin. In February 2015, the Parsons family got the news they had only dreamt of, Donal was in remission. The very next day, his Mum and Dad took him to Michigan, in the US and enrolled him in a clinical trial. This trial is testing a drug called DFMO, and the hope is that this will improve Donal’s chances of remaining cancer free. Donal will be traveling regularly to the US over the next two years and we will keep you up to date on his progress on this site and on his facebook page.
Jane and Andy would sincerely like to thank everyone that has helped them so far with fundraising and all your support. This means the world to them and without this support, Donal would not be able to access this treatment in the US. Please continue to follow Donal’s story and spread the word about this amazing little boy and his little book about Nelly the dog. He’s our writer and fighter!
Why we are fundraising
The Donal Parsons Trust has been set up to raise money to access any viable treatments to prevent relapse and to pay for treatments if Donal does relapse. The Trust may also assist Donal and his family during his treatment.
If Donal doesn’t need further treatment all proceeds will go towards fighting Neuroblastoma and to other families facing this terrible situation.
